Mandy_Moore: Hey everybody. What's up? Thanks so much for coming.

Addicted2Music: Mandy you are 16 how does it feel to know that you have accomplished what so many dream of at such a young age?

Mandy_Moore: It's definitely an amazing feeling. I'm very honored and flattered to be doing what I'm doing.
Mandy_Moore: And for people recognizing me for it.
Mandy_Moore: I think the main thing is for you to go into something for the right reasons.

mindy: how were the VMA's? What was your favorite performance? Did you go to any after parties?

Mandy_Moore: I enjoyed the VMAs, especially since it was my first year attending.
Mandy_Moore: My favorite performances were N'Sync and the Red Hot Chile Peppers.
Mandy_Moore: I went to a couple of after parties, but we had a tour the next day, so not too many.

kjjj: What did we miss seeing on TV that happened at the VMA's?

Mandy_Moore: I think you guys totally missed the guy from "Rage Against the Machine" on top of the set on the stage; he climbed up on the very top.
Mandy_Moore: And I think everyone just missed the funny things during commercial breaks
Mandy_Moore: people would get up to get a drink or go to the bathroom like at a sports event.
Mandy_Moore: Every commercial break was like half time.

bloodbucket: Who did you think was best dressed at the VMA’s?

Mandy_Moore: I think Aaliyah was the best dressed.

man_d_fan: What's your favorite song off your latest album?

Mandy_Moore: I think my favorite song is "I Wanna be With You" and "Your Fate"

tigerlily368: Mandy, what is your favorite song ever made?

Mandy_Moore: I love too many artists to choose just one song.

Addicted2Music: Mandy...what is it like to be looked up to as a role model?

Mandy_Moore: It's very flattering for people to think you're a role model.
Mandy_Moore: I think you have to know that it is a responsibility, but in the back of your mind, you also have to lead a regular life.
Mandy_Moore: People can only expect you to be who you are.

CaityCandy2: Hey Mandy! I was wondering how you actually got into the business-how did you get noticed?

Mandy_Moore: I did a lot of musical theater. I sang the National Anthem at Sports events, but I really think it took me just being in a recording studio recording a demo when the FedEx guy heard me sing and took my demo and sent it out to a couple of his friends at record labels.
Mandy_Moore: But I was very lucky even though it was random.

babygirl816900: Mandy if people wanted to get into the music business what would be your advice that you could give them

Mandy_Moore: Not to pass up on any good opportunities, because you never know who's sitting in the audience.

blakeandrew: How'd u put so much emotion into I Wanna Be With you? When you sang that sang live, it moved me. It wasn't just another person singing a song. It was someone singing a song and meaning every word of what they sang. Is there someone you were singing that song to?

Mandy_Moore: Wow!!! Thank you very much.
Mandy_Moore: I don't know if there was anyone particular in mind. I think the song is simple enough for it to be able to impact people in different ways.
Mandy_Moore: It's so simple and general that I think that many people can relate to it.
Mandy_Moore: I think it means something different every time I sing it.

Alison: Do you write your songs, or does someone write them for you?

Mandy_Moore: I haven't penned anything for the first album.
Mandy_Moore: We're about to start work on the second album and I'll definitely have some lyrics or melodies on that one.

Hotchick: What was the first song you ever made

Mandy_Moore: The first song I ever recorded was "What You Want"

ourladypace: Mandy how do you enjoy working at MTV?

kjjj: What’s the atmosphere like at MTV? Do all the VJ's act normal in real life?

Mandy_Moore: MTV is amazing. The people there are amazing. The whole situation is so much fun.
Mandy_Moore: I think it was awkward at first, but it feels so right now, so natural to go there.
Mandy_Moore: Like family.
Mandy_Moore: That's the best thing about it.
Mandy_Moore: Everybody who works at MTV is themselves on and off camera.

mmgood: Mandy, are you going to have a show on MTV this fall?

webgirl_14: Mandy... I really liked your MTV show, will there be new ones on again

Mandy_Moore: I will. We're about to start production on it, but I don't know any specific dates when it will start.

worldchmps: How do you think you've changed or grown since the day you went into the studio to you recorded your first album?

Mandy_Moore: I think I've become a more confident performer, but besides that, I personally don't feel like I've changed because people still treat me the same.

worldchmps: In terms of yourself, what's the best and worst things about being famous?

Mandy_Moore: The best is definitely getting to perform night after night.
Mandy_Moore: The worst is being away from my home and friends and everything that was a given to me before.

Snort2001: why did u choose "walk me home" as your next release?

Mandy_Moore: It's actually one of my favorite songs off the album.
Mandy_Moore: I just love the song. I think it's something along the lines of "I Want to Be With You".
Mandy_Moore: The lyrics are simple and general enough for many people to relate to it.
Mandy_Moore: Also, I didn't want to waste the video that we made for it

mmgood: When is your new video for Walk Me Home going to be on MTV?

jonbopp: Will you make a new video for "walk me home"?

Mandy_Moore: It should be on MTV in the next couple of weeks.
Mandy_Moore: I'll keep people updated on it.

benwc: Mandy, I was wondering if you are interested in any other music besides popular stuff. Blues or classic rock?

Mandy_Moore: I'm interested in all types of music. I think you have to listen to a wide range of every genre, every music. You have to eclectic.
Mandy_Moore: I figure that the people that I look up to and respect got their inspiration from all genres of music.

mandy_aholic: What do you think of hip-hop?

Mandy_Moore: I looove Hip Hop. Hip Hop and Alternative are probably music that I love more than hop.
Mandy_Moore: pop

Marco0330: have you ever considered modeling or anything? Because you most definitely are the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen

Mandy_Moore: Oh my gosh! Thank you very much.
Mandy_Moore: I don't know if the modeling world is for me.

Marco0330: do you get a lot of compliments about how beautiful you are?

Mandy_Moore: You get compliments from people definitely, but there's a point when you kind of stop listening.
Mandy_Moore: It's very flattering but it's weird because I see a different person than everyone else sees.
Mandy_Moore: And I don't want their words to change what I think.
Mandy_Moore: I don't want to start thinking that I'm someone that I'm not.

worldchmps: Do people recognize you wherever you go and do you need a bodyguard?

Mandy_Moore: Oh no, people don't recognize me everywhere in the sense where I'm mobbed or anything.
Mandy_Moore: There are some situations where I'm sure a bodyguard will be handy, but we haven't gotten one yet.
Mandy_Moore: I think it really depends on the situation and where you are.

Snort2001: Where did you find those shoes that you wore to the VMA's???

Mandy_Moore: I have an amazing stylist, Vita.
Mandy_Moore: And she is just really great about picking out stuff that I love, but would probably pass over myself.

kjjj: Do you have favorite designers?

Mandy_Moore: I love a lot of designers, but I think I’m most comfortable in stuff that's made for me.
Mandy_Moore: Or even just jeans and a t-shirt.

Menace: Hey Mandy if you had a choice to be a rock star or a rapper what would you be and why

Mandy_Moore: I would definitely be a rock star.
Mandy_Moore: I guess it's just something I feel more comfortable with.
Mandy_Moore: It's more of the direction that I'm leading towards musically anyway.

misssarah: do you do any charity causes?

Mandy_Moore: I love "Give Kids The World" and the "Make a Wish Foundation."

Pitz: So, I heard recently that you've gotten your driver's license? Do you like driving? Are you any good at it?

Mandy_Moore: I love driving. I can't believe I passed and actually got my license.
Mandy_Moore: I know I need to practice a little more, but I think I'm pretty good if I do say so myself.

I_LUV_MM: How do you feel bout being so famous at such a young age??? Love, (S/N)

Mandy_Moore: It's a weird feeling to have to get used to.
Mandy_Moore: And I'm still not used to it.
Mandy_Moore: It's flattering, but odd for people to recognize you for something that's almost a hobby.

misssarah: Have your friends helped you through adjusting to fame?

Mandy_Moore: My friends are always there for me.
Mandy_Moore: Even to call at 3:00 AM if I've had a bad day.

Pitz: Mandy, Pitz here from the mandymoore.com bbs. I was wondering how you felt about the whole Napster issue. I am doing a debate about it in English class tomorrow and I would love to hear your input! Thanx!

Mandy_Moore: I think I'm divided on the issue like so many other things.
Mandy_Moore: I see the bad where it's not fair for people to get free copies of your music that you worked so hard to produce.
Mandy_Moore: But on the other hand, it's a great way for people to hear my music that maybe would listen to pop radio.

CaityCandy2: Hey Mandy! What is all this talk about princess diaries? Could you tell us about that?

Mandy_Moore: It's actually a movie that I have a role in and is just about to start shooting.
Mandy_Moore: It's a cool film and a great cast and an amazing director and I'm just very excited to try something new.

MusicGirl12: Mandy, what character are you playing and the movie? Do you like it?

Mandy_Moore: I get to play the stereotypical popular cheerleader at school that's the nemesis of the main character.

EmandylvrJ: Hey Mandy...what exactly are you going to do in Music Mania that's happening on Fox this Friday?

BigWolf5: Mandy, what song or songs are you going to be performing at the music mania on Friday?

Mandy_Moore:I actually am only performing one song, "Candy"
Mandy_Moore: But it was a great event because I got to meet a bunch of other artists.
Mandy_Moore: N'Sync, Westlife, Mandy Moore, Pink, 98 degrees, and on and on

jonbopp: Are you still trying to learn French?

Mandy_Moore:I am.
Mandy_Moore:I still have half a year I have to complete some way somehow
Mandy_Moore: Although I'm hoping I can get credit for recording my song in French.
Mandy_Moore:I just heard it and I sound so stupid.
Mandy_Moore:I wish I sounded better; it's really hard to sing with an accent.

mandytalker: What do u think about the success of other pop stars like Britney and Christina and what do u think about them!

Mandy_Moore:I am very happy for them.
Mandy_Moore: They're very sweet girls and very deserving of all the success.

rightsaidfred: do you think you can take Christina in a boxing match?

Mandy_Moore:I totally could.
Mandy_Moore: Totally.

benwc: I heard you wanted to attend NYU. Why this school? I think I want to go there also.

Mandy_Moore: Two of my best friends just started school there last week, and going to their dorms made me want to go there even more.
Mandy_Moore: I've always wanted to live in NY and study journalism and musical theater, so that seems like the perfect place.

ksbrent: Where do you see your career in 10 years from now?

Mandy_Moore: Hopefully along the same path, still singing, writing, producing, acting, whatever the future has in store for me.

Mandy_Moore: Celine Dion, N'Sync, Backstreet Boys, and Mandy Moore.
Mandy_Moore: Recently Jessica and I were on two planes together, one was last night.
Mandy_Moore: It's funny because people assume that we hate each other.
Mandy_Moore: But we don't! We were just chatting and gossiping. It was really fun.

CaityCandy2: do you have any famous friends?

Mandy_Moore:I don't know, I guess you can say yes or no.
Mandy_Moore: You meet people in the business for such a brief period of time.

babygirl: if you could do a duet with someone who would it be

Mandy_Moore:I would love to do a duet with, I don't know, a guy or a guy group.
Mandy_Moore: Or even someone like Britney Spears, kind of like Brandy and Monica did to show people that we don't hate each other.

BombDiggity31: Being 16 I think u represent our age well and I’m very happy for all of your success and I hope that it continues but how do u go about presenting yourself as a good role model

Mandy_Moore:I think you have to be yourself and don't let anybody change your mind.
Mandy_Moore: You really have to stick to your guns in this business because there are always going to be people who think you should act this way or dress this way.
Mandy_Moore: But you have to realize that you're the one on stage or on the camera.
