Sexiest Bachelor in America, Contestants - September 27, 2000
Meet these sexy bachelors: Teddy, a 23-year-old lifeguard from Maryland; Stephen, a 23-year-old model from Missouri; Kevin, a 23-year-old model from Washington, D.C.; Matt, a 21-year-old student from North Dakota; Doug, a 27-year-old model from Vermont.
Foxcom_Host: Hey, everybody, welcome to the chat with 5 of the Sexiest Bachelor candidates! Foxcom_Host: Here we go -- the men of the night have
arrived! Foxcom_Host: Since you've never met these guys in person, why don't we have them describe themselves for you! Foxcom_Host: First we have Matt from Fargo!!!
Matt_Funk: This is Matt and I'm 6
1, brown eyes, sandy brown eyes. Matt_Funk: I'm a total retro dresser. I kick it with
70s style and aviators 24/7.
Foxcom_Host: Kevin Archer is our next
guest. Kevin is from Washington, D.C.!
Kevin_Archer: I am about six feet even. Dark brown complexion, brown eyes, kind of athletic build I guess. Kevin_Archer: Let me think. I'm a tee-shirt-and-jeans
kind of guy, not retro. Bald headed, clean shaven. That's
about it.
Foxcom_Host: Teddy Sears, who I think looks a little surfer-like, is up next...
Teddy_Sears: Hey. I am 6'3" with bleached blonde hair
and brown eyes. I am a lifeguard in the summer - surf style.
I am also on the retro tip and have very big feet.
Foxcom_Host: Stephen Seebeck is from Missouri...
Stephen_Seebeck: I'm about six-foot. Stephen_Seebeck: Dark hair, dark complexion. Stephen_Seebeck: I guess I try to keep the dress
on the GQ tip.
Foxcom_Host: And, Doug Rumsey, welcome to you!
Doug_Rumsey: Yes, I'm six feet tall
with blond hair and blue eyes. I'm a professional model.
I like to dress very J. Crewish in casual clothes. If I'm
going upscale, I like something like Jack Vicker in Montreal
-- he's a good designer.
ilovemen: What was the weirdest
experience you encountered as part of the Sexiest Bachelor
competition? Was there any macho competition that happened?
Matt_Funk: The weirdest experience
was finding some guys that were cool to hang out with. Matt_Funk: As far as the macho part, all the guys
were really cool and laid-back. It was our first time on
a show like this. We all just wanted to get to know each
other and have fun.
Kevin_Archer: I guess I have to
piggy back on Matt on that. I was thinking there was no
conflict of personality at all. Everyone was cool with everyone,
and everyone talked to everyone at least once. Which feels
kinds of strange these days, 51 guys who had a cool time
with each other.
hermione: What was the interview
process like to get on the show?
Stephen_Seebeck: The interview process
was really lengthy. A pretty long background check. Stephen_Seebeck: My tape was only about 2 minutes
long, just talking about myself. They called me back later
that same week.
MikeDaddy: Why would you want to do this special after all the "Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire" controversy?
Teddy_Sears: I think when we arrived
we all had that in the back of our minds. Teddy_Sears: We didn't know what to expect since
it had never been done before. Teddy_Sears: We all felt fortunate to give this new thing a try, and I thought only good things could come out of it!
stud_finder: Have your views of
beauty pageants changed because of the contest? (Whether
your previous views were good or bad.)
Doug_Rumsey: Yes they have changed. Doug_Rumsey: I would say my views on beauty pageants...this
wasn't too much of a pageant. It was a bunch of guys who
were real people -- normal guys, totally real -- at ease
and confident with themselves. It was different than I thought
it was going to be for sure.
mspriss: Are you hoping to continue a career in modeling or broadcasting from this experience?
Matt_Funk: I'm totally looking for
a career in modeling. Matt_Funk: Teddy and Steve and I are leaving for
L.A. in February. Matt_Funk: I would definitely want to try a career
in acting. I know that's a standard thing. Matt_Funk: I'm going with a couple of good guys, so...
Kevin_Archer: I guess, that was
my whole reason even to get involved. I got involved through
my modeling. I was doing something with Cosmopolitan magazine
and they wrote to me and asked me to be a part of it. With
my modeling I try to take advantage of as many opportunities
as possible. Maryland and me are trying to do something
down here -- any press can help in the modeling business
-- so I definitely hope some good things come of it.
Ilovemen: Have you always thought you were good looking?
Stephen_Seebeck: No, I don't really
look at it like that. Stephen_Seebeck: I just, you know, if I'm attractive to someone else... Stephen_Seebeck: I think my better traits are my personality and my sense of humor. At least that's what really matters.
Teddy_Sears: Steve is a modest guy! He looks like Enrique Iglesias!
Matt_Funk: He looks like Enrique Iglesius.
Doug_Rumsey: No, I didn't think
that. I was kind of dorky-looking growing up. When I turned
18 I came into my own. Doug_Rumsey: I think that's when I started to think
I was somewhat attractive.
Draftsygirl: Hey guys, what is it about yourself that you think is sexy?
Teddy_Sears: Quiet confidence and a sense of humor.
Matt_Funk: Confidence without arrogance and sense of style.
Stephen_Seebeck: Hands-down, my
break dancing ability! Stephen_Seebeck: :)
Kevin_Archer: I have to go with
the other guys. Definitely my confidence, and I guess my
build.
Doug_Rumsey: That's easy, I'm a
real person. That's what I find sexy in myself.
dawn: How have your friends and
family responded to you guys participating on this show?
Teddy_Sears: They have been very
supportive -- my family especially. My friends like to give
me some grief about it, but after a few laughs they are
always the ones to say good luck. Teddy_Sears: They're all looking forward to watching
on October 2.
Kevin_Archer: My family's been tremendously
supportive -- of everything -- the show, my modeling career,
all that. They've been real good. Kevin_Archer: I get the typical laughs and jokes
when I tell people but even the friends are supportive and
everyone is looking forward to watching it. It's going to
be a good thing.
Meggy: how old are all of the bachelors?
Teddy_Sears: 23
Matt_Funk: 21
Kevin_Archer: 23
Stephen_Seebeck: 7 1/2 years in dog years. 23.
Doug_Rumsey: Doug from Vermont, I'm 27.
mspriss: Tell us some of the most
interesting details about photo shoot auditions.
Doug_Rumsey: Having to strip down
into my lolly bags, speedos, was quite interesting...
Stephen_Seebeck: There are a lot of fun things, but
it's a tough business. It gives you a tough skin as far
as competition.
ratchet: What do you hope will result
from the show?
Kevin_Archer: I guess just more
things for modeling. I'd love to land some big campaign
off of it or something like that, but anything positive
is good... Kevin_Archer: I think it's just an honor and a good
thing to have it on my resume. Good things are going to
come from it regardless.
Juniper: Do any of you go to college?
What are your majors?
Matt_Funk: I go to Minnesota State
-- majoring in Corporate Fitness, business and theatre.
Teddy_Sears: I graduated from University of VA in May 1999 and I studied business management and poetry writing.
Stephen_Seebeck: I was studying Education Admin, but I've changed to Photography. I'll be continuing at UCLA with North Dakota (Funk) and Teddy Bear. Stephen_Seebeck: And I'm minoring in break dancing!
Doug_Rumsey: I went to school in
Boca Raton and my major was Recreation Management.... Doug_Rumsey: Golf class. Surfing. But seriously,
it was fun. I had a good time down there.
Mspriss: Do you get embarrassed when women find you appealing?
Kevin_Archer: I wouldn't say embarrassed,
but I am a modest guy, so sometimes I don't handle compliments
too well. I don't know. I guess I'm grateful whenever I
get one. I do get a little uneasy now and then.
babydoll: Did anyone hook up with people during the filming of the show?
Stephen_Seebeck: We really didn't have time. We rehearsed like 15 hours a day. Did a little gambling. We flirted a little bit.
MikeC: Did all the bachelors get
along?
Kevin_Archer: All the guys got along.
Teddy_Sears: Definitely!
Kevin_Archer: It was just a great time, everyone had a lot of fun.
Teddy_Sears: I think we hadn't even
been there one full day and everyone had already exchanged
phone numbers. Teddy_Sears: That's something that usually happens
at the end. Teddy_Sears: I think that shows how well we all got
along.
Matt_Funk: The camaraderie was just
awesome. Everyone was so cool. Even during practices, we
were just clowning around, being ourselves. We all meshed.
It was fun!
Doug_Rumsey: I just want to say
that everyone there was so patient. If someone made a mistake,
everyone in the contest was just open arms, trying to help
the other contestants out. You didn't feel you were at a
competition of any sort. Doug_Rumsey: I would say it was like 51 guys going
out for a battle together.
Stephen_Seebeck: I was there to just beat everyone! out for blood! Stephen_Seebeck: I didn't like anyone!! (Totally
kidding..we all got along great)
gmoney: What is the wildest thing you have done to get a girl to go out with you?
Matt_Funk: I dropped a bowling ball
on my foot! Matt_Funk: The girl was walking by...she smiled.
I dropped the ball. At least she paid more attention to
me with my broken foot. I am retarded.
Teddy_Sears: I find being direct
and straightforward is the best way to get a date. I don't
think you need to go wild or anything. Teddy_Sears: If the girl is interested you can just be yourself.
Matt_Funk: You're the man, Teddy!
Teddy_Sears: I was in a relationship for a long time
and in the aftermath of that I found that being straightforward
is the most solid approach.
Stephen_Seebeck: I tell girls that
I"m a professional break dancer. They dig that. Stephen_Seebeck: They dig my wicked moves.
Teddy_Sears:
Steve what maneuvers have you performed to get a date?
Stephen_Seebeck: Chicks dig the headspin.
Doug_Rumsey: I don't think you need to do crazy things to impress women. Women want guys to be themselves. I'm totally myself and I think that's why women find me attractive. Doug_Rumsey: All you guys are like that. Everyone
in this contest for the most part was just themselves. If
women don't like that, it's their loss -- it's as simple
as that.
Matt_Funk: Amen Doug, you're the
bomb.
Doug_Rumsey: You got to be who you are.
Stephen_Seebeck: Keep it real, Doug.
Kevin_Archer: I haven't done any
wild, crazy things. I'm more along the lines of Doug.
babydoll: Do any of youl have girlfriends?
Teddy_Sears: No I don't.
Matt_Funk: Currently single!
Stephen_Seebeck: Same here
Doug_Rumsey: I'm single and happy!
Stephen_Seebeck: Rock on!
Kevin_Archer: I guess I'm the odd
ball out, cause I do have a girlfriend. I hate to ruin my
marketability as a bachelor! I love her to death, she is
totally supportive of everything I'm doing.
Teddy_Sears: I think having a girlfriend is fantastic!
draftsygirl: Hey guys, tell us about your first kiss
Kevin_Archer: Wow!
Teddy_Sears: My first kiss was in
7th grade playing a little spin-the-bottle.
Matt_Funk: Oh, me too dude!
Teddy_Sears: But my first real meaningful
kiss was senior year of high school with my ex-girlfriend
who I dated for 5 years. Teddy_Sears: It was late at a friend's house and
a whole bunch of kids were sleeping over and we ended up
in the same room together. Teddy_Sears: I was very nervous and just kept talking
to cover the silence. Teddy_Sears: That went on for an hour and we just
kept inching closer and closer together until it happened.
Doug_Rumsey: My first kiss was horrible, because the girl was moving her tongue like a lizard.
Doug_Rumsey: That's the worst feeling! I can't stand
it when women move their tongues around really fast.
Stephen_Seebeck: Picture this: Stephen_Seebeck: Dark corner, roller-skating rink,
6th grade. Stephen_Seebeck: Sweaty palms and very exhausting.
Stephen_Seebeck: her name was Sandy, too.
Kevin_Archer: I don't have a story
about my first kiss. Kevin_Archer: The first one....I don't know if I can remember my very first kiss. Kevin_Archer: It must not have been too good if I
can't remember it!
vixenhottie: Ski or beach? Which is your kind of vacation?
Matt_Funk: Funkdog is definitely
the beach!
Kevin_Archer: Beach.
Stephen_Seebeck: Same for Missouri.
Doug_Rumsey: I got to say the beach.
Teddy_Sears: Beach Beach Beach Beach!!
I just love it!
mspriss: Do you believe that most
people remember their first kiss versus their first sexual
encounter?
Kevin_Archer: I can take that one, I can remember that one!
mspriss: Are you all on a specific
regimen to stay healthy and in good shape?
Kevin_Archer: I definitely am.
I try to work out at least 4 to 5 times a week. Eating is
my downfall though, I eat a lot of junk food and drink a
lot of beer.
Doug_Rumsey: I'm drinking one for
you now man, a cold one!
Kevin_Archer: In modeling the competition
is so hard, any advantage you can get is a plus -- so I
work out.
Matt_Funk: I'm just like Kevin. I
eat whatever the heck is sitting around. But I run 4 miles
every day. I play volleyball and lift. If you want to do
anything in this career you've got to stay in shape.
Teddy_Sears: I think it's important
to have a strong body. For me it's running, swimming, push-ups
and sit-ups daily Teddy_Sears: Besides a strong body you need to have
a strong mind so I keep reading and I get a good nights
sleep. You should always challenge yourself intellectually.
Stephen_Seebeck: Break dancing pretty
much covers it for me. Between the "windmill" and the "centipede!"But,
no. I do watch what I eat and I do a lot of running.
Doug_Rumsey: I run every day around
five miles. And my diet is pretty good. Doug_Rumsey: My downfall is Buffalo wings. Up in
Vermont there is a place called "Rubin James"
that makes the best wings. But I eat them only once a month
because there are five grams of fat in each wing!
YakYak: what do you do for fun?
Teddy_Sears: I think my life wouldn't
be any fun without close friends. Teddy_Sears: I like to write as well. Teddy_Sears: Steve and I would occasionally meet
in a random city for a break dancing tournament!
Stephen_Seebeck: Yeah!
Kevin_Archer: I guess I just like
to hang out with the guys and maybe shoot pool. I 'm a sports
junkie, so I like to go to the sports bar, watch the games,
play basketball now and again. I'm a Playstation junkie
too so I do that a lot. Other than that, I just like hanging
with the fellas, doing whatever we're doing, having fun.
Matt_Funk: Besides all the athletics,
I also part-own a company in Fargo where we set up parties
for the college students. Matt_Funk: So all these college kids have stuff to do on weekends. So that's fun.
Stephen_Seebeck: In my spare time,
I like to go around whatever city I'm in. I'm really interested
in photography, so I like to take pictures of people and
the city. Photography and break dancing -- those are my
two things.
Doug_Rumsey: I like to play golf for fun, I play quite a bit. Doug_Rumsey: We'll play golf out in LA!
Doug_Rumsey: I'm going to LA for work -- that's what I love, I love golf.
Foxcom_Host: We are going to have to
wind down now and say good-bye to our hottie guests... Thanks,
you guys, for being here!
dawn: Kevin you are a hottie!
Celiece: Steve, you are soooooo HOT!!! Good luck!!
Mikey: STEVE YOU RULE!
Stephen_Seebeck: Thank you. The
feeling is mutual!
Celiece: Bye DOUG!!
