Hanson - August 16, 2000
Hanson These talented brothers have a signature style that has rocketed Hanson to the top of the charts. Known as Ike, Tay and Zac to fans and family, Hanson broadens their music with their new album, "This Time Around."

FOX.com Host: Guess what??? The guys are arriving!

FOX.com Host: Welcome to Hanson!

Isaac: Hey, everybody!! This is Isaac!!
Isaac: Welcome to the chat!! Let's get to the questions!

Cassie: When you guys put an album out, whose opinion matters most to you about the album?

Isaac: Well, I would say the opinion of your personal confidence in a record is a big thing!

Michelle: Good answer IKE!

Isaac: You are always trying to make the best record you can, and you don't leave the studio until you've done that.

Isaac: Plus, the response from the fans and your peers!

Mariana: Hey Isaac, what is the last CD you bought? --Mariana, Argentina.

Isaac: I actually bought a bunch of CDs:

Isaac: B.B. King, Curtis Mayfield and Aretha Franklin...

Isaac: ...Marvin Gaye...

Isaac: ...Otis Redding, of course!

spanishcousinsml: Hey Ike we're from Spain...will u come back to Spain?

Isaac: I'm sure we will come back to Spain. Exactly when, I'm not sure.

Isaac: Hopefully we'll be touring Europe after the U.S.

Isaac: And that tour ends in October.

little_cutie4: Ike, how do you like the way the tour is turning out so far? hope to see you in Toronto! --Celia, Canada.

Isaac: The tour is going very, very well. Fans' responses has been awesome!

Isaac: We've played lots of different venues, from large clubs to outdoor amphitheaters.

Isaac: It's been great to play at all different places around the country! It's just great to be on the road!

Isaac: Can't wait to see you in Toronto!

Andriahanson: Why do Taylor and Isaac go by their middle names?

Isaac: No particular reason!

Angel_Faces: Hi Isaac! I was wondering how you picked the line-up for this tour? --Maura.

Isaac: The routing is generally decided between you and the agent. They talk with the venues around the country and find the places that are available.

Isaac: It's a matter of finding what's available when.

Judy_Israel: Hey Ike, thanks for the awesome music! What's the next single gonna be? --Judy, 16, Israel.

Isaac: That is a good question.

chrisntay14: Hey Ike, do u have any idea what the next single might be?

Isaac: We're talking about that right now. The talk is about "Save Me" or "Runaway Run."

I_LOVE_ZAC: Hey Ike what do you think about when you are writing music?

Isaac: LOL!

Isaac: When we're writing, you're not thinking of anything else but the song.

Isaac: And a lot of the time when you are writing songs, you're not thinking, you're just flowing.

Isaac: The thing about songwriting is it's hard to know when the song is going to come. The thing is when it comes, you don't know where it came from.

Isaac: When you are writing, you wonder, WOW, where did that come from?

FOX.com Host: Uh-oh, Isaac seems to be having cell phone problems....

FOX.com Host: He should be right back! Ah, to be a rock star and jet-set around the world on a cell phone!

FOX.com Host: He's back!

Isaac: Hey, everyone!! Sorry for the momentary pause!!!

Isaac: We are on the road in between Baton Rouge and New Orleans!!

LuvnIKE4ever: Hey Isaac, when do you plan to release another home video!?!?!?

Isaac: Yes, we're hoping to release another home video soon! We're in the process of getting the footage for it!

Isaac: We're getting a lot of concert, backstage and travel footage!

iLOvEthoseGUYz: Hey Isaac! My question is, what do you and your brothers plan on doing after the TOUR is over?

Isaac: We'll probably take a short break and finish writing songs and start recording the next record!

HansonSheep: Hi Isaac! I was wondering if you will be playing Jonny Lang's solos yourself on tour? PS: You guys rock and I can't wait to see your concert!

Isaac: The only solo that is played on tour is not played by me, it's played by my second guitarist.

Isaac: The one by Jonny Lang, that is. Hopefully, Jonny will grace the stage very soon and play his solos himself!

Puff_Broccoli: Hi Isaac, which artist would you like to work with?

Isaac: Wow! The list is incredibly long!! But Sheryl Crow, Lenny Kravitz, Aerosmith!

Isaac: There are a lot of different people you would love to jam with.

Isaac: But we're also interested in writing and producing other people's records!

ginger998: If you could do a duet with one female artist who would it be?

Isaac: Wow!!!

Isaac: I don't know!!

Isaac: Hmmmmmmm....

Isaac: Gosh!

Isaac: Maybe...hmmmmm...that's a really good question.

Isaac: Sheryl Crow would be cool. So would Lauryn Hill!

cissi_and_emma: Hi Ike!!! Do u write poems??? --Emma and Cissi, 14, Sweden.

Isaac: Well, in essence, songs are poems. Just with a melody!

Isaac: But also, I do write poems from time to time. But most of the time those poems turn into a song!

prozac: Hey Ike I'm chatting from the beautiful island of Trinidad. Will you be visiting anytime soon?

Isaac: Oh, we would love to come visit you in Trinidad. It's been 11 years since I've been there!

Isaac: In our current plans I don't think we are going there, but it would be great to come see you soon!! Who knows?

MmmbopFANatic17: IKE, You are da bomb. Who do you think deserves the most credit on the behind the scenes work?

Isaac: LOL!

Isaac: The funny thing is, with being a band, there are a lot of dynamics that go into making a record!

Isaac: And performing!

Isaac: So, I don't think any credit goes more to one or another.

Isaac: We all have a fairly equal part in the process!!

FOX.com Host: Taylor will be chatting next, so send your questions!

Isaac: When it all comes down to it, it comes down to who we are as a band that makes it all work!

Isaac: Hey, everybody!!! Thanks for your questions! I'll pass it to Taylor!

FOX.com Host: Thanks, Isaac!

Taylor: Hey, everybody, welcome to the chat. Let's chat!

greeneyez_81: Hey Taylor, I met you guys in Memphis and you especially were sooo nice!!!! You've gained a fan for life...newayz, do you remember getting anything special from a fan?

Taylor: We get a ton of things special from fans.

Taylor: It's hard to remember every thing.

Taylor: Sometimes we get a lot of cool letters saying how the band has changed their lives.

Taylor: I could start a very cool list.

hanson_float_my_boat: Hey Tay! What's up! I was wonderin' if you could change one thing in your life right now what it would be and why! Thanks.

Taylor: You know, I don't think I would change anything. I'm extremely psyched about what we're doing as a band.

Taylor: And we're happy to be on tour. I think life's idiosyncracies are what make it cool, so I wouldn't change a thing!

hitznady_arg: Taylor: When are you going to come to Argentina? --Nadia, Buenos Aires.

Taylor: Well, we were just in Argentina.

Taylor: We had a lot of fun there. The fans were great.

Taylor: Hopefully, at the end of the U.S. tour, South America will be our next stop.

Iznogood_85: Hey guys :)! I'm Cyrielle from Geneva, Switzerland!! Thanks for chatting with us...it's very cool...ok, my question is: What is the thing you believe in the most strongly?

Taylor: Well, I think, it's definitely important to believe in something. That's a good question.

Taylor: I believe in believing in something. Whether it's a faith or a passion in life. As long as you have something that's guiding you, I'd stick with that.

musicbaby: Hi Taylor I was wondering: what does music mean to you? p.s. I would like to say thanks for inspiring my band to keep going with our music.

Taylor: I think music means a ton things.

Taylor: The best thing about music is it's a way of expressing stuff and everybody does it differently. And music to me is my way of expressing thoughts, feelings, all those different things that go through your head.

Taylor: And it's something I enjoy!

iLOvEthoseGUYz: Who inspires u to sing?

iwannamarrymymarimba: Where does your inspiration usually come from?

Taylor: A lot of inspiration questions! You are all very deep. :)

Taylor: I think you constantly find new reasons to be inspired.

Taylor: That's what keeps you going...looking for the next thing. Whether it's particular things that inspire you. I always hope that I'll find new reasons to sing.

Amanda: Hi Tay! Thanks for the happiness your music has brought me. How does it feel to know you've affected so many people's lives by your music? Love, Amanda, age 17, CA.

Taylor: It's an amazing feeling that you've maybe even helped somebody out or inspired somebody to do something. It's an amazing feeling!

patricia618: What's your fave song on the album?

Taylor: Very hard question!

Taylor: As an artist I don't think you can possibly choose one of your own songs. There are many songs that mean different things. I think "This Time Around" is one of my favorites because it's a lot different from things we've done before.

hansonmaddy: What is your favorite song from another band? --Madison, NE.

Taylor: Wow. You know, I don't think I have one favorite song.

Taylor: I think it's impossible to choose one song because you like different songs for different reasons.

Taylor: A song like "Stand by Me" is great because of its simplicity and how much it says.

Taylor: A song like "Bohemian" Rhapsody" is great because it's crafted so ingeniously.

Taylor: And a song like "Good Lovin'" makes you want to get up and dance!

Katie52: Taylor, out of you three guys, who takes part most in writing the lyrics to the songs?

Taylor: Well, it all depends on the song.

Taylor: Because some songs begin with lyrics, some with melodies, some in between...it really depends on what one of the three guys is leading the way on that particular song.

dramagirl124: Hi guys!! I really love old songs and I was wondering what covers you'll be during on the tour this time. I can't wait to see you in concert!! Thanks a bunch. Rachel from OH. (PS Today is my 16th birthday!! WOOHOO!!!)

Taylor: We love to play all kinds of old songs. I agree with you, I like old songs myself.

Taylor: On tour we're playing all kinds of different songs. You'll probably hear a little Janis Joplin, The Stones, Cream, and it goes on from there.

Samantha: What is your favorite thing to do on a Saturday night when you don't have to work that day or the next? --Samantha, 14, Washington.

Taylor: Let's see....

Taylor: I think just being with people you enjoy hanging out with and having no particular plan. Relaxing, chilling out and being free to do whatever.

Mandm84: Hey Hanson. I have a question for Tay, can you beat Ike in arm wrestling?

Taylor: LOL!

Taylor: It's been a while since we had one...I think I did win last time. But it's been a while. I'll get back to you on that one!

florida_hansonite: What do you guys think of the whole "girl jumping on Tay" thing? Will this change your perspective on Hanson fans?

Taylor: I can't say that I wasn't shocked when the girl jumped on stage.

Taylor: But it doesn't change our perspective and we're always glad to have excited fans.

purpleviolet: What do your friends think of all the success you guys have had?

Taylor: It all depends on what friends you talk to!

Taylor: Any of our good friends know us and know it's just a lot of luck and that we do it because we love it. They don't really care. They think of us as Ike, Tay and Zac.

tayscowgirl: Taylor, do you like the rodeo?

Taylor: I've seen the rodeo/been to the rodeo a couple of times. I think being from Oklahoma, you have to at least say you've been! I can't say I've been enough times to say whether or not I enjoy it. It's definitely an interesting event.

ItzSnowedIn: Do you guys have a lot of home-schooled friends back home in Tulsa?

Taylor: A lot of our good friends did home school when they were kids. Some of our best friends...that's why we spent so much time together.

Taylor: We have some from high school, some from home school. It doesn't really make a difference.

HansonPoet: Taylor, do you read Edgar Allan Poe? --Amy, Illinois.

Taylor: I have read a little Edgar Allen Poe. That's a very intelligent question on your behalf. Do you read it?

BorrowedFriend: Taylor, I heard you play guitar now. Will you be playing it live in any shows on the TTA tour??

Taylor: I might be playing a little guitar. That's definitely not my instrument yet, but as time goes by I'm sure I'll throw that in there.

swedes83: Have you ever been a BIG fan of somebody?

Taylor: I've been a big, big fan of a lot of people. I don't think I would scream like our fans...but then again, I don't have the genetics for it.
Taylor: Aerosmith, Billy Joel...those are two big ones. I was a HUGE Spin Doctors fan when "Pocket Full of Kryptonite" was out. I definitely would have freaked out when I met those guys.

TaysAsh: Taylor, I wanted to know if you had planned on getting any more piercings? If so, where?

Taylor: First of all, that's between me and my piercing person!

Taylor: I don't have any particular plans...I'll probably re-pierce my ear pretty quick because I took it out. Who knows? You'll have to keep coming to shows and see what else happens!

FOX.com Host: Cool -- thanks for chatting, Zac's up now!

Taylor: Okay...here's Zac.

Zachary: Hello, people on the Internet!

babydawl: Zac: You are the best! I was wondering how it feels when your concerts sell out in minutes?

Zachary: It's really awesome to think that you have that many people who want to get into your concert that you sell out in a matter of minutes. And it gives you more incentive to do the show.

Hanson_mad: Hey Zac Hun! Are you ticklish? If so, where?

Zachary: NO!!

OpheliaJane: Zac--what's under your bed? --Solitaire, 14, HI.

Zachary: Nothing.

Island_Sweets_14: Hey Zac!!! Can you beat your brothers up when you guys "fight." I know you are the buffest so I was just wondering. --Lori.

Zachary: We have yet to fight...so I guess we'll figure that out when we do.

Angel_Baby: Hey Zac. I was wondering what your fave song on the radio is right now? --Katie P.

Zachary: Oohhhh.

Zachary: "You're a God," Vertical Horizon.

HansonLuver13: Zac, are you really an animal like your brothers call you?? P.S: I get hyper a lot and start to scare people but some people say I act like you. --Megan Gault, Hawaii.

Zachary: First of all, no one calls me animal!

Zachary: And I guess that would answer the second part of your question.

Zachary: And if people tell you you act like me...I don't know what to say. I'm not sure that's a good thing.

tm_Scully: Zac, you were very young when you became "big." Can you tell me how it felt then, and how it feels now?? --Tanya, AZ.

Zachary: Well, there isn't that much difference.

Zachary: It's mainly just the fact that you're doing music on a larger scale and having that opportunity to do music in a bigger way.

hyperHansonFan: Hey Zac!! I'm in a band and I was wondering if you have any ideas on how we can get a music company to notice us?

Zachary: Play a lot.

Zachary: And a lot and a lot and a lot!

Zachary: Oh...and A LOT!

heather15: ZAC, I PLAY DRUMS ANY TIPS??

Zachary: PLAY A LOT.

Zachary: Practice makes much better.

PeachJJ: Hi Zac, what country that you've visited had the best food?

Zachary: Ohhh...that all depends on what kind of food you like. Me, I'm a meat and potatoes kinda guy. So the States serve me pretty well.

Zachary: But there's always something good in other countries.

Zachary: Whether you're in Japan and want some ramen noodles or you're in Italy and want some Italian food.

Zachary: Or you're in Ireland and want some haggis.

FOX.com Host: Zac may be in a tunnel right now, because the cell phone cut out.

FOX.com Host: He should be back with us in a sec!

FOX.com Host: The guys are chatting with us from a cell phone on the road while touring, so we lost Zac for a moment!

smartgirl2000: Hi zac! If you had to choose between fame, power, money and love which one would you choose and why? You rock! --Rach, California, age 14.

Zachary: Huh. Well, let's think...I would choose the love, because love has the power to do anything!

Zachary: I would choose jello...

Zachary: ...because it can go from solid to liquid if you squish it in your mouth.

FOX.com Host: Oops, where'd he go again???

FOX.com Host: Bad cell phone!!!

FOX.com Host: He's back!!!

VistaCruiser: Zac, if you could be an X-Man, who would you be?

Zachary: He's not in the movie...but I know enough about X-Men...

Zachary: ...to pick Colossus.

ambertes22: Zac do u think it's harder or easier being the youngest in the band?

Stoosh18: Do you find it hard being the youngest of the group? Are you treated differently at all?

Zachary: I don't think it really makes much difference.

Zachary: I really wouldn't know, would I? I'm kinda stuck being the youngest.

kimmy: Zac--if you had to choose another career, what would you choose?

Zachary: Hmmm.

Zachary: Let me think about that...another career...what would I be?

Zachary: I would be a Bill Gates.

Zachary: Because Bill Gates is really cool. LOL!

kimmy: Are you interested in adding any new instruments to your repertoire?

Zachary: I think you're always looking forward to adding new instruments to your "repertoire." It's just a good thing to do as a musician to help you grow. I still plan on writing songs and playing music.

BlueYonderDreamer: Zac! You are such an awesome drummer. I was so happy to see you featured in MODERN DRUMMER magazine. How did that feel? --Hillary, 16, NC.

Zachary: It's really cool to be acknowledged by your drummer peers. It was just...

Zachary: ...slightly different as far as interviews, because it comes down to drumming style and technique and who you admire on drums.

Zachary: It was really cool just to be acknowledged by my drummer peers as a drummer who's out there...drumming.

omgilovehanson: Zac, what is the most interesting thing or gift you have ever gotten from a fan? Thanks cutie!! Amy loves you! LOL! --Rose, TX.

Zachary: Hmmmm.

Zachary: A dog is pretty high up...but please don't send us any!

HansonKixAss: Zac, have you ever read a Harry Potter book?

Zachary: I have to say no, but I guess I could.

TTA0606: Zac, what is the best book you've ever read?

Zachary: Ew. I don't know!

Zachary: What's the best book YOU'VE ever read?

TaylorsAsh: Hey Zac! How was it to jam with John Popper on stage?

Zachary: Ah. It was really awesome to have him come onstage at the L.A. show. We ran into him before we did the show and we asked him and he said yes. Obviously, John is an amazing musician and it's always awesome to have great artists play with you.

FOX.com Host: Thanks, Zac, Isaac and Taylor for being with us to chat!
