Jessica Simpson: Hey everybody, it's great to be here. I'm in NY right now, it's a very rainy day, so you guys will definitely cheer me up!

LuvBsB12: Hey Jessica!! My question for you is: Since you have such a Incredible voice, What's your Octave Range?! Oh Yeah! congrats on Winning the 2 Teen Choice Awards!! U deserved it!! Thanxs!!

Jessica Simpson: Thank you, that was definitely a huge honor. It was my first award to be nominated for and it was a lot of fun!
Jessica Simpson: 5 1/2 octaves.

Alison: In the magazine Girls' Life, I saw the celebrity survivor, which I found interesting to read! Did you have fun answering the quetions that they asked you?

Jessica Simpson: Interviews are some of my favorite parts of my job because I get to tell everyone about myself and my fans can relate to me through the interviews.

Candy: What are some of your goals music-wise?

Jessica Simpson: Writing about more and I just want to continue to make great music and hopefully it will continue to get better. I can't even listen to my old record anymore because there are so many things I want to change.
Jessica Simpson: My main goal is to never disappear. I want to stick around.
Jessica Simpson: I try to make songs like "I Wanna Love You Forever" that people can listen to 20 years from now.
Jessica Simpson: I just want to make better music each album.

Tripp231: How'd your career get started?

hi_jess: I was wondering how you were discovered.

Jessica Simpson: I actually started singing in a church.
Jessica Simpson: I was singing in church. A man was starting a gospel label and he signed me.
Jessica Simpson: I never went out to try to make a deal. It was destiny.
Jessica Simpson: It came to me, not to say that I didn't have struggles after that.
Jessica Simpson: My gospel album was never released. I had a lot of hard times, but in the beginning it was something that was given to me.

luckygrl72: Jess, at what age did you really decide that singing was the thing for you?

Jessica Simpson: I always loved to sing along to records, in the church choir.
Jessica Simpson: I think when I went to the Mickey Mouse Club I realized my parents weren't just proud parents. That professionals were interested in my voice and my personality.
Jessica Simpson: Even though I didn't make the Mickey Mouse Club, that's where I gained my confidence.

sweetsinger9: I'm 13/f, and singing is my LIFE! What advice do you have for young singers who want to make it in the music business?

PupPal_Jessfan: Hi Jess, I'm a major fan. What advice do you have for aspiring singers?

Jessica Simpson: My biggest advice is you have to have a passion for it. You can't want it for the fame, "I wanna hang out with 'N Sync or with the stars."
Jessica Simpson: It's gotta be a love for music because the work that goes into it is so hard and there are many times when you just want to quit because it's so trying on yourself.
Jessica Simpson: You don't get to sleep in your own bed.
Jessica Simpson: It has to be a passion, because it consumes your whole life. Not to say it's not beautiful.
Jessica Simpson: You just have to believe in yourself because nobody else will unless you do, unless you have that confidence.

Jellybean: Hey Jessica you are amazing and an inspiration to my people. I was wondering were you got all of your musical influences too.

Jessica Simpson: I've always loved the Divas, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion...
Jessica Simpson: But now I love Lauryn Hill, Pink and I think it's always been women who've inspired me...
Jessica Simpson: Even though I love male singers, the women in the industry have influenced my career more than anything.

ilovejessica: What is your goal as a musician? Are you trying to increase awareness of Christianity with your music?

Jessica Simpson: I'm a good person, and hopefully that reflects in my music and image.
Jessica Simpson: I'm not out to save the world, because that's a huge pressure that not many can take on.
Jessica Simpson: I'm out to influence lives, give off a positive energy and let people know that they could be a good and fun person without doing bad things.
Jessica Simpson: It's important for my heart to be reflected in everything that I do, and if that brings people to God, that's a big reason why I feel I've been put in my position.
Jessica Simpson: But I would never force my beliefs on anybody.

imajessfan: Jessica, do you plan on recording any gospel songs on an upcoming album?? I am a christian myself and think it would be awesome if you did!! Thanks!! --Krissy

Jessica Simpson: This next album that I'm working on right now will have a big gospel song with a big gospel choir.
Jessica Simpson: And I'm really excited about it because that's the core of my music and that's where everything comes from. To let people see that part of me is very exciting.

shygirl: YOU'VE TOUCHED ME WITH YOUR MUSIC AND YOUR SPIRITUALITY...AND I TOO AM BAPTIST AND A BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN...BUT I WAS WONDERING IF THERE IS A LOT OF PRESSURE TO BE A ROLE MODEL.

Jessica Simpson: I'm a preacher's kid, so I've always had to be a role model.
Jessica Simpson: I've always been the fish swimming in a fish bowl.
Jessica Simpson: Now it's at a different level, but I'm prepared. Being a preacher's daughter has affected my life and career because I've always been looked at.
Jessica Simpson: But I'm a good person.

BigJessFan: Jessica, who is your role model? You're mine!

Jessica Simpson: My role models in life are probably my parents or grandparents.
Jessica Simpson: They've always been someone I've gone to advice.
Jessica Simpson: My grandparents have always encouraged me to play.
Jessica Simpson: And my parents have given me discipline.
Jessica Simpson: They give me great advice. Also Nick is a huge role model for me because he's been through what I'm going through and he can offer good advice and definitely knows how to keep me happy.

Sweetkisses14: Jessica, I love how open you are with your relationship with Nick, was it hard to come out with it, so early in your career, and do you ever plan on starting a family with him?

Jessica Simpson: It was important to come out with it because I definitely don't believe in lying to the public.
Jessica Simpson: People were going to see us holding hands in a movie theater, and I don't think it would be fair to give an interview the next day saying we weren't together.
Jessica Simpson: Plus it's not anything that I want to hide, no matter what it does to my career.
Jessica Simpson: Of course I want to have a family with him. I wouldn't want my babies to have any other daddy.
Jessica Simpson: When? that's a good question.
Jessica Simpson: I'll leave it at that.

Alison: How did you meet Nick?

Jessica Simpson: Nick and I met through a prior management situation.
Jessica Simpson: We used to have the same manager. Basically the only good thing that manager did was introduce us.
Jessica Simpson: We've been together for a year and seven months.

Justin_19: I think you and Nick make a good couple.

Jessica Simpson: Cute!

ShortNSweet69: Jessica, now that you're famous and you're so busy doing shows and all, is there anything you miss being able to do?

Jessica Simpson: Going to Blockbuster, renting a movie, laying on my couch and eating a ton of junk food.
Jessica Simpson: I miss a lot of normality, but I try to keep it as much as possible.

Jessica Simpson: My favorite song is "Take My Breath Away" by Berlin, from the Top Gun soundtrack.
Jessica Simpson: And my favorite song from 98 Degrees is a song on the new album coming out soon called "My Everything."
Jessica Simpson: Nick actually wrote that song for me and it's very very special.

summermusicmania2000: Jessica, I had a great time yesterday and I was wondering if you were goin to come back to Jacksonville for your own concert???

Jessica Simpson: I would love to! The fans were incredible out there! I'd love to!
Jessica Simpson: I'm planning on going on a tour in November, so maybe I'll hit Jacksonville.
Jessica Simpson: Music Mania is an incredible concert! It's all your favorite artists in one or two hours.
Jessica Simpson: One minute you're seeing 'N Sync...
Jessica Simpson: The people who get to watch the show are lucky.
Jessica Simpson: But you can always see it on FOX!

Jessica Simpson: It was an incredible feeling. I had absolutely no clue and when they said my name, Nick said I screamed in his ear.
Jessica Simpson: Especially because it was the fans who voted, that was the most important thing to me, to please my fans, and it looks like I did, so it was a very great feeling.
Jessica Simpson: Thanks for voting!

LuvBsB12: Hey Jessica!! I just wanna tell you congrats on winning the 2 teen choice awards!! U deserved it!! My question for you is: Who do u prefer?! Britney or Christina?

Jessica Simpson: I prefer Britney, although both of them are nice girls, I know Britney a little better than Christina and chatted with her more.
Jessica Simpson: She's also a very hard worker. She deserves everything's she's been blessed with.
Jessica Simpson: Not to say that Christina isn't talented and friendly...I can see myself being better friends with Britney.

imajessfan: Jessica, do you ever get nervous, performing on stage in front of the thousands of people?? And are u planning on attending the Grammys next year? Thanks!! --Krissy

Jessica Simpson: Yeah, I do get nervous, I think most everybody gets nervous.
Jessica Simpson: You want to make sure you're gonna give a great show, I give a live show and I hope my voice doesn't give out.
Jessica Simpson: And yeah, I'd love to go to the Grammys! One goal is to get nominated for a Grammy one day.

MikeDaddy: Do you see yourself as a competitor to some of the other young female singers out there?

Jessica Simpson: I think everybody is a competitor, but I've learned not to be in this business.
Jessica Simpson: My competition right now is Britney and Christina.
Jessica Simpson: Britney is a phenomenon. She's sold 20 million records, I've sold two million.
Jessica Simpson: I can't compete with that. I've only sold two, not that isn't amazing.
Jessica Simpson: To me that's very very successful, so I've had to fight out the competition in me because it will only make me eat my insides out and feel like a failure.
Jessica Simpson: I don't need that.

catlady8762: If you had to pick one person to do a duet with who would it be?

Jessica Simpson: Michael Jackson. I think that he's incredibly talented and I don't know if I could without fainting.
Jessica Simpson: He's very cool to me. I love his voice and I love his passion.

sexylexy: Do you plan to do any more duets with Nick any time soon?

Jessica Simpson: Nick is writing songs on my next album. It doesn't look like I'll be doing a duet.
Jessica Simpson: We still combine our music together. Music is our passion so to share it is a precious thing.
Jessica Simpson: So he's writing some songs for my next album.

JSimpsonFan1: Jessica! Hi this is Kim from Arizona (I met you in AZ after you opened for Ricky Martin, your cousin's gf is my teacher). Anyway, I was wondering what sort of sacrifices you've made to have your dreams come true! Love, Kim.

Jessica Simpson: Many. I've sacrificed school, friends, normality, college, everything.
Jessica Simpson: Not living in Texas which is a big sacrifice for me.
Jessica Simpson: And also I've put myself in a position to always be looked at and always be judged on everything that I do.
Jessica Simpson: That's a sacrifice because you get that in regular life, but not in the tabloids.
Jessica Simpson: When it's in the paper you have to know yourself and know your talent.
Jessica Simpson: That's a big sacrifice, my normality as a person. It eats at your self-esteem because you're always on TV or in magazines and trying to be a perfect person.
Jessica Simpson: It's a sacrifice because you lose your normality, but I know myself and I try hard not to be hard on myself.

MelissaCA: Jess, when you settle down with a family, where would you ultimately like to be living? Like what state/country? By the way I love you and you inspire me!

Jessica Simpson: Probably Texas.
Jessica Simpson: I don't know though, when I first get married I might live in California, someplace fun.
Jessica Simpson: But when I start having kids I want to grow them up in Texas where they have good schools.
Jessica Simpson: Nick says Ohio, but I think I win. It rains too much in Ohio.

KozoM: Do you plan to be a pop star in 10 years time?

Jessica Simpson: Yeah, I hope so. I hope that I'm continuing to make music.
Jessica Simpson: Whether it's for my kids or in church. I want to use the gift God blessed me with.
Jessica Simpson: If it's as a pop star, I definitely will.

nice_guy: Hey Jessica, I know you are an open Christian, I really respect that, it only makes me a bigger fan, I was wondering if you have struggles in the glitzy glamour world of Hollywood as far as your Christianity.

Jessica Simpson: I think everyone has their downfalls and struggles.
Jessica Simpson: For me it's actually easier to keep my faith in this business because my faith is what keeps me strong.
Jessica Simpson: And I see a lot of people who don't have faith in the business and what they go through and the lives they lead, that definitely encourages me to stay on the path that I'm on.

PupPal_Jessfan: When did it hit you that you were famous?

Jessica Simpson: I still don't feel that way. I'm living a rock star lifestyle, but I don't feel like I'm famous.
Jessica Simpson: I still love giving autographs, but it hasn't hit me.
Jessica Simpson: I'm just old normal Jessica, as Mom says.

crazychick: What do you like to do in your spare time, if you ever have any?

Jessica Simpson: Go to movies, I love going to movies and I love to eat.
Jessica Simpson: I like going to all kinds of restaurants, especially Mexican. I like my beans and rice.
Jessica Simpson: And of course, shopping! With my sister, preferably.

sexylexy: What's it like to be on tour with your sister?

Jessica Simpson: It's awesome, I love it, Ashlee is one of my best friends in the whole world.
Jessica Simpson: We keep each other sane. I love to have her on the road with me
Jessica Simpson: She puts me in my place, and I put her in her place, don't get me wrong.

nattlez102382: Hi Jess I heard that u enjoy watching movies and I was just wondering what your favorite movie was? And what recent movies have u seen that r good?

countach: What's your favorite all-time movie?

Jessica Simpson: I like all kinds of movies. One of my favorite movies is Steel Magnolias.
Jessica Simpson: My favorite actress is Julia Roberts. I love romantic movies, scary movies.
Jessica Simpson: The best scary I've seen recently is What Lies Beneath.
Jessica Simpson: I about scratched all of Nick's skin off his arm. I wanted to leave I was so scared.

briosh: When are you going to do a film?

Jessica Simpson: I only saw the movie once, but it was a great opportunity.
Jessica Simpson: Probably about February or March, and I'm actually looking at a couple now.
Jessica Simpson: It's definitely something I want to get into.

Taylor_Paige: Jessica? Are you coming to Australia anytime soon?? To do a tour or a concert?? Or anything?? Because you have some BIG Aussie fans out here!!

Jessica Simpson: I was just in Australia actually about a month ago.
Jessica Simpson: I was overseas for two and half months and I was really tired.
Jessica Simpson: I won't be going for a while, but I'll be back. I love Australia. It's beautiful.

AnDReA584: Hey Jessica! Is it a weird feeling to know that so many young girls look up to you?

Jessica Simpson: It is kind of weird. I don't try to be a positive role model. I want to be a positive role model. It's a desire of mine, but I don't try to.
Jessica Simpson: It would be hard if I was always trying. People know that I'm me, they know that they're not getting star Jessica, they're getting normal Jessica which doesn't come across as intimidating.
Jessica Simpson: I think that's why people relate to me. I'm one of them.

jessfan_JSMB: Hi Jessica!! I just wanted to tell you that you are my role model and I look up to you for everything. I was just wondering if you were planning on going to college.

Jessica Simpson: Right now, I don't need to because I defintiely have a career.
Jessica Simpson: You go to college to find out what to do with the rest of your life.
Jessica Simpson: It's good to have a back-up plan, so maybe.
