Zoidberg decides to try his luck at show business and performs at an open mike for stand-up comedians. When he bombs, he tells the rest of the Planet Express crew that show business is in his blood because he's the nephew of the famous silent star Harold Zoid. He decides to call his uncle for some pointers and he gets invited to come out to Hollywood. When Zoidberg arrives, it turns out that his uncle is all washed up and needs Zoidberg's money to finance the movie he wants to shoot. Zoidberg can't afford it, but Bender, who has become the assistant to a famous television star, Calculon, convinces his boss to invest and star in the film.

Bender guarantees the star an Oscar for his performance, but the movie is a total bust. When Calculon threatens the lives of Bender, Harold and Zoidberg, they decide to rig the Oscars to give him the Best Actor nod. While reading the winners on stage, though, Zoidberg decides to give his uncle the award instead, angering Calculon. Zoidberg and Harold bask in the glory of the Oscar and Calculon decides not to kill them in the end, respecting the talent of the Hollywood has-been.
