Stranded in the galaxy with nothing to eat, Bender, Leela and Fry land on a remote planet. They discover hoards of yummy little creatures and import them to Earth. After deciding on the name Popplers for their new delicacy, Fry and Bender set up shop as Poppler street vendors.

After tasting a Poppler, a local franchise magnate strikes a deal to distribute Popplers through his fast-food chain. Popplers become a cultural phenomenon as Earthlings become addicted! Leela and the others ignore the pleas of animal activists who insist that Popplers should be spared the cruelty of human consumption. However, the next day Leela is about to pop a Poppler when it looks up and calls her "mommy." Horrified, Leela spearheads a "Save the Popplers" campaign and creates a national debate.

Shortly thereafter, everyone learns the nauseating truth about Popplers: They are, in fact, baby Omicrons! Seeking retribution, the Omicrons vow to eat one human for every Poppler baby eaten: roughly 198 billion people! Zapp Brannigan negotiates a compromise: the Omicrons can eat the first human to ever eat a Poppler. Unfortunately, that's Leela!

At the live broadcast of the human-eating, Zapp tries to trick the Omicron leader into eating an ape instead of Leela, but a hippie activist ruins the plan. Everyone watches helplessly as the Omicron puts Leela in his mouth. Just as he is about to bite down, Leela's pet Poppler arrives to save her! As the humans celebrate, the Omicron satsifies his hunger by eating the activist...with psychedelic results.
